Arrow, aka "Goofus," and "Noodlehead;"
dubbed "Arrow, the aero-DYNAMIC dog" by my niece Devin

Arrow with his new "doggles" Arrow and his Christmas presents! The "doggles" are from Devin, and the stocking is from Aunt Norma and Uncle Carl.

  • racing name: GM's Johnny.
  • call name: John (well, you can call him "John" but he won't answer!).
  • new name: "Arrow" comes from a sweet animated movie called "The Point." Arrow, Oblio's faithful dog, was described as being "pointed all over," and was the subject of the movie's song "Me and my Arrow."
  • birthday: August 13, 2000.
  • adopted from: Greyhound Adoption League of Tucson.
  • foster mom: Renee.
  • gotcha day: Jan 10, 2003.
  • favorite stuffy: stuffed valentine's day heart.
  • i'm famous! "Bookstore Doorman is a Real Dog" "Shoppers entering Bookman's on Speedway on Jan 5 were greated by an unexpected doorman named John, a 2-year-old greyhound in need of a permanent home...." Arizona Daily Star, Jan. 19, 2003 (by this time we had adopted him but the reporter didn't know this).
  • stuff I don't like: bananas, peas, new furniture, cactus stickers in my paws, flapping black plastic bags, crates, and playing fetch.
  • stuff I love: walks, ear skritches, tummy skritches, back skritches, new stuffies, hikes, greenies, goofy love talk, sniffing someone new.

Reasons why I love Arrow:

  1. Just looking at him makes me smile.
  2. His fur is the color of the dappled shade under our mesquite trees.
  3. He reminds me when I have been working at the computer too long.
  4. We have finally met all our neighbors!
  5. The spot behind his ears feels like silk.
  6. His joy in his own speed and agility.
